Certain things have its limits.
I was invited to 2 events on Thursday - 26th November 2009.
One was a takbiran event and the other a birthday BBQ.
Being the eve of Hajj, of course i would go to a takbiran event.
The invitation for takbiran is after Maghrib while the BBQ starts at 6 pm onwards.
Both host are Muslims.
Now, as everyone else who reads this blog is aware that my birthday fall on the 8th October each year. The Islamic Calender is on the 12th Zulhijjah which is the day of Hajj itself.
Therefore technically, i am turning 28 based on the Islamic Calender this Friday.
Birthday or not, Hajj is another Muslim event that requires one to observe its importance. The eve is often spent to pray and glorify Allah SWT - something which i notice the youngsters nowadays seems not to do.
In actual fact, Hajj have to be celebrated for 4 days as it consider the greater of the other festival - the Eid Al Fitr Or Aidilfitri to celebrate end of fasting which was supposed to be only 1 day and NOT 1 month as prescribed by some.
No offence intended. I have no intention to bring a person down but it is just for one to observe the importance of Hajj.
I believe the birthday event which comes coincidentally together with Hajj might as well be used for greater purpose - to commemorate the Hajj, to pray for the best of one's life.
Insya Allah, all will be granted by Allah SWT.
But to each his own and if it were up to me, i would do it that way. You can do BBQ anytime but the Hajj is a fixed schedule for one to observe and respect its importance.
